Artist Statement

Winter Tree was taken on Christmas Eve 2010 in West Linton, the Scottish Borders. The light was disappearing and I knew that I only had a few minutes in which to get the image. Crossing a snowy field to get the right viewpoint, I could feel my fingers getting numb with cold. Fortunately I was able to get the shot before the sun went down behind the hills in the distance.

Kenneth Gray's interest in photography started at age 15 when his parents gave him an SLR and he began to experiment with it.  He has been fascinated ever since. Having always been passionate about photography, art and design, he choose a career involving all these elements of the visual arts. He has been a graphic designer for over 20 years now and freelance for the last 5 years. Within the last 5 years he has become more and more involved in the photographic element of his design work.  His first solo exhibition was in 2010 at Dawyck Botanic Gardens in the Scottish Borders. His sensibility as a designer tends to feed into the images that he takes - carefully composed, graphic structures that often meld natural forms with man made structures.
