Artist Statement

I was out shooting with a colleague of mine when we came across this strange scene. It was as if people were behaving like cars and cars were behaving like people.  We both stopped and frantically started taking photos.  We didn’t really tell each other what we saw… almost believing we were both secretly onto something strange that had happened in front of us.  Later when we both looked at each other’s negatives, she admitted I had gotten the photo that she was going for.  It was a strange scene and many people have asked me whether it was staged at all.

Kenneth Chou is a documentary photographer based in Toronto, Canada.  Although interested in art at a young age, it wasn’t until discovering photography that he had the opportunity to pursue his curiosity for people and life around him.  His most recent work involves documenting the ecological burial movement in North Eastern United States.

Chou's work has been exhibited in Toronto and published locally and abroad.  He holds a MFA in Documentary Media from Ryerson University and a BFA in Stills Photography.  Ken prefers to exhibit his work in book format and is still a big fan of  traditional analog film.
