Artist Statement

This photograph was taken in Kensington Market, Toronto, Ontario.  The image was made rather spontaneously; I have always been keen on observing domesticated animals & their adaptation to human life around them.  What drew me to this particular scene was the anatomical differences between Charlie and Rachyl.  On many other streets these two would have simply passed each other without a glance.  In an eclectic neighborhood like Kensington Market however, these two met with a sense of play and curiosity.

Kenneth Chou is a documentary photographer based in Toronto, Canada.  Although interested in art at a young age, it wasn’t until discovering photography that he had the opportunity to pursue his curiosity for people and life around him.  His most recent work involves documenting the ecological burial movement in North Eastern United States.

Ken’s work has been exhibited in Toronto and published locally and abroad.  He holds a MFA in Documentary Media from Ryerson University and a BFA in Stills Photography.  Ken prefers to exhibit his work in book format and is still a big fan of  traditional analog film.
